So, how do I manage my time to ensure I am always ready to help others? Here’s a quick look at my daily routine:
Eat breakfast, read motivational book
Exercise
Administrative duties: check email, social media
If nothing is urgent, it can wait until I’m finished with my first work item, such as a brief
Put phone on silent, move far away from it
Set a 2-hour timer for solid, uninterrupted work; repeat
Work, work, work
Throughout this time, I’m resisting any temptation to check emails throughout the day. That may seem counterintuitive, but it is a distraction from the real work. Instead, check your email at specific times, not randomly, such as in the morning, at lunch, and at the end of the day.
This routine helps me focus on the Social Security Disability professionals and disability claimants that need my focused attention. The time management involved is essential when working on RUSH briefs. And it is always nice to be able to say yes to new requests because I am focused and ready!
